Know Your Cooling System
Do you know the names and functions of key components of your cooling system? Here is a quick cheat sheet to help you better understand your repair proposals and determine when it would be best to replace the system as a whole.
Fan - The fan blows over the condenser to help remove heat from the unit’s refrigerant
Blower - The blower circulates indoor air over the evaporator distributing the conditioned air to ductwork
Thermostat - Sets the temperature of comfort selected throughout the home
Condenser - Coils that release collected indoor heat to the outside
Compressor - Moves refrigerant between the evaporator and the condenser to help create a conditioned indoor space
Evaporator - Coils that remove humidity from the indoor air, creating the sensation of cooling
Filter - Located with the indoor unit to remove particulates from the indoor air passing over teh filter
